The Shaping
Shenlo, then, of water and seas, gave shape to the world, filling it with its own and defining its borders.
- Evic's Chrysalis of Fate (1.4)
The Shaping of the World refers to the historical and mythological creation of Morshir by the four Great Dragons.[1] It is referenced and explained in many ancient texts, the most detailed of which comes from Evic's Chrysalis of Fate.
Summary
During a time of peace for the Elemental Plains, the four Great Dragons, then only princes of their respective Plains, came together to create the world. Soarkos carved space out of the Shadow for Morshir to be, Shenlo created the ocean, Firoas created the land, sun, and stars, and Morrain filled the world with plants. They then spawned "children," which became the Dragons of the world. Lastly, Soarkos created humanity,[2] before they returned to their homes to watch Morshir.

Before Morshir was even a twinkle in the eye of the Great Dragons, the Elemental Plains were. Ruled by beings beyond our wildest dreams, the Plains saw eras of war and eras of peace. Peace it was when four princes of the Plains agreed to come together and create.
Soarkos, first, of air and sky, pushed back the yawning deep that filled the space between, to make room for that which others would make next.
Shenlo, then, of water and seas, gave shape to the world, filling it with her own and defining its borders.
Firoas, next, of fire and stone, carved the land that all would walk and live, before ascending to keep watch, his Eye bringing light to all below.
Morrain, last, of earth and tree, spread his mind over all the land, bringing green things to sprout and grow.
And as the world finished it's creation, the Great Dragons gave it guardians. Soarkos birthed the Four Winds. Firoas birthed the Stars. And Morrain birthed the dragons of the hills and rivers, the forests and fields.
And when the Four had finished their work, peoples came from the Elemental Plains to populate this new world. But Soarkos decided that this world needed a people of its own, and so created the humans. Then, the Great Dragons departed back to their Plains, to watch over this new world, and see what became of it.
And so began, the First Spring.
- Evic's Chrysalis of Fate (1.2-9)
While the how of the Great Dragons' act of creation as depicted in 'Chrysalis' is mostly poetic and probably non-literal, most scholars agree that it accurately describes why they did it and who contributed what↩︎
While all the other species trace their origin back to the Elemental Plains, humanity has no clear origin. No one knows how or why Evic claims what he does, other than it seemed to be common knowledge when he was alive.↩︎
